No Place Like Home
After his realization about Karlene at Niagara Falls, Hunter headed back to New York. It felt strange to be returning to the Big Apple -- but at the same time, Hunter knew that the closure he needed could only happen in New York City. And he could not truly find happiness again, until he had that closure.
He took his motorbike to storage, where he set up a PINpoint portal to get the bike... and anything else he had in storage, to his Nexus apartment. He tried to convince Zunar to wait for him at the Nexus apartment, but the kneazle outright refused to leave his side.
And so the two of them, Zunar riding Hunter's shoulder, made quite a sight in the lawyer's office. But Hunter was able to sign away his CEO responsibilities with the Foundation, finally leaving the organization in the hands of the volunteer board. And he also signed away ownership of the Seven Sisters art studio to the foundation -- so there would always be a gallery available for artists in need. Even his now empty apartment suite above the studio could be used as a temporary home to an up-and-coming struggling artist.
Finally, he signed away all stock in Kingson Enterprises, so that it would be donated to the Foundation, giving the organization the funds it would need to expand and prosper.
With his ties finally cut to everything related to New York, Hunter looked out the city below him from the lawyer's office. Karlene was still out there. Somewhere. And he needed to be prepared to face her.
He found a quiet place to PINpoint to his Nexus apartment. And breathed a sigh of relief -- at the safety of the magical runes that protected him here. The welcoming sights of his art room, and rose garden. Hunter took out his PINpoint to quickly shoot Hermione a message. He hoped that she could help him learn some protective spells, so when the time came to face Karlene he could.
He made himself a small supper, and ate outside on the balcony -- watching the Nexus scenery change in a welcome to the approach of fall. Zunar curled up by his feet, and Hunter sat in silence and let his mind truly contemplate the revelations he had during his time away.
And now that he finally had closure on the things in his life that had become unimportant -- he could focus on the important ones. His art. Getting his magic back one way or another. And his relationship with Jim.
