Hunter walks cautiously towards Verity's apartment door, balancing a few gifts in his arm for one of his closest friends in the world.

He had wanted to do something special for her. He had thought about a surprise party, but wasn't sure if that would cause any issues considering Verity's abilities. Plus, there he didn't want to accidentally not invite someone who was important to Verity.

She was very important to him. And Hunter wanted to show her that, the best way he could. And so, Hunter had worked a few weeks on a few special gifts, that were currently wrapped up in pretty, glittery boxes.

Approaching the door, Hunter delicately balanced the boxes for a moment, so he could knock and let Verity know that she had a guest.

"Hey." Ver reaches over to rub his arm lightly. "Nobody's good at everything. That's okay. It's okay to want to be something you're not, but 'should' can be a hurtful word. It's okay to not be everything."

Someone may have been dealing with issues of inadequacy in therapy lately.

He smiles up at her. "I feel so lucky to have such great friends in my life."

"I do want to be comfortable at those art shows. To stand beside my art, with my head held high. Ready to answer the questions those art patrons might have."

She smiles back before turning her attention back to the tea. Time to pour. "You've got good taste. And then you've got me. I guess everyone's got their guilty junk-food pleasure."

Working on. Not worked through. An important distinction!

"That'd be a good thing to work toward. I can help you practice if you want. Between not understanding art and making funny faces at you, I should give you a run for your money."

"Now that is an arrangement that I can easily agree too." Hunter smiled.

"And I didn't even need to bribe you with a promise of cookies." Ver smiles and stirs some honey into her tea. "So when do you want to start? Do you have a show coming up soon?"

[losthunter]

"Well, when my marble sculpture is finished, I would like to put it on display. And before I create any artwork to display alongside the sculpture, I do need to finish my promised pieces for Schön."

Hunter also puts a little honey in his tea.

"I'm sure he'd like that." But debt collection isn't strictly her job, so she won't say anything else about it. "I hope we get to see your marble masterpiece soon. I'm a little surprised it isn't done yet. But I suppose it's the medium?"

[losthunter]

"A little bit of the medium, and a lot of me taking my time working on it." Hunter laughed softly.

"Ah. Speaking of... I don't think I have the heart to cut into those fondant flowers. They come off?" They can find a safe spot for them before cutting into the cake, unless he brought candles and is going to insist she make a wish.

[losthunter]

"We can certainly take them off." He will stand up, to help her with the task. And nope -- no candle.

Ah, well. She's not one for making wishes anyway. Once the flowers are relocated she'll cut a couple slices from the cake. "Thank you for this. It smells wonderful. So, with all the art you've been working on, have you had any time for anything else?"

[losthunter]

"I have taken a few opportunities to go out, to a club, and just relax in the atmosphere of the music." Hunter steals a little icing from his slice, before sitting at the table with it.

"And no dates made... yet." He added, figuring she would ask that question next.

She had literally been just about to ask that question. Gossiping about cute boys is part of the whole best friend gig, right? But, preempted, she smiles instead and sits down to enjoy the cake and tea. "I'm glad you've been going out. That's a good start. But you know, once you start finding dates, we could double."

[losthunter]

"I have been taking it slow. You know, the whole slowly turning up the heat for the frog in the water thing." Hunter smiles softly.

"And I have had some good conversations."

[brave_heart_verity]

"But you're not a frog, and you're not going to get cooked," she counters with a smirk. "You'll find a nice guy you like talking to and go from there. I'm told it's very natural."

Verity pauses to think, and take a bite of cake, and think about the cake. Mm, yummy. "This is good. The cake and the socializing. I'm proud of you."

[losthunter]

"I have been getting positive encouragement." Hunter laughs softly. He takes a bite of his cake, savoring the taste of it.

"Oh, is that all it took?" She nudges his foot under the table before taking another bite of the lovely cake. "Is your friend still...?" It's hard to know how to put the deal with Faris.

[losthunter]

"Faris asked Schön to find his doorway, but Schön is still looking." Hunter answered her. "So yes, he is still staying with me."

"Is he?" Color her surprised. Schön gives off such an air of professionalism. "I'm sorry to hear that. Will you be going with him to visit when he goes back?"

[losthunter]

"Maybe. I do want to meet his host. And there are many things about his world that sound interesting." Even though Hunter does want Faris to find his way back home, at the same time it would be a little strange not to have Faris around.

She's still wondering what's taking Schön so long. He has all kinds of magic after all. And no, she doesn't believe magic will fix everything, but damn it, she started having faith in the man at some point.

"Could be a fun vacation. Sometimes going somewhere new lets us learn all sorts of things about ourselves."

[losthunter]

"I always enjoy learning new things. Finding new inspirations."

[brave_heart_verity]

"You might pick up a whole new kind of art there. That'd be exciting."

Oh, cake, why are you so delicious and yet so fleeting?

"You could probably teach them things, too. A sort of cultural exchange."

[losthunter]

"That would be wonderful. Faris is so wonderful with telling his stories. And is so creative in deciphering riddles."

Hunter has finished his cake too. He licks the fork to get that last part of icing.

"It sounds like you two make a good team." Her smile is a little less sad now than it would have been once. Having a team of her own helps. And distance.

Cake done, she wraps her arms around her tea and leans back in her chair. Yes, she could have another piece, but Samus would just make her run it off. "Have you painted any scenes from Faris' stories yet?"
