Hunter was laying outside, on a bench in his rose garden. A pair of sunglasses that had once belonged to Lindy covered his eyes. His Ipod set to a variety of rock songs pounded in his ears.

In the art studio, a special canvas had been completed. And right now, Hunter felt very calm about his life. Even the emotional challenges he had faced after attending Lindy's wedding seemed to be miles away.

In fact, he felt a little more at peace. So without even thinking about what might happen, or overthinking things, Hunter picks up his PINpoint, sending a quick message to Wil.

I have a painting for you. Did you want me to drop it off, or did you want to pick it up?

"Sorry to hear that things've been rough." He's pretty glad Hunter's doing all right though, despite whatever troubles he's had.

[losthunter]

"Just a small bout of loneliness." Hunter leans his hand on the desk, facing Wil as he spoke. "My good friend Lindy got married."

[william_kent]

"Got you thinking about your own love life?" Wil guesses. Tactfully, of course.

[losthunter]

"I was." Hunter admits truthfully.

"Lindy was who I thought would be that great love of my life. And seeing her married, finding love with someone else, was a little disconcerting."

"But I am happy for her." Hunter looks at the sunglasses case fondly. "She was so happy. So completely happy with her decisions."

"You don't begrudge her for that." It isn't really a question; he can tell that Hunter doesn't hold it against her.

[losthunter]

"I couldn't have been the man for her." Hunter knows that. "Especially since I am looking to be a man... for another man."

[william_kent]

"I dated a guy for a few months until he realized I wasn't his type either," Wil says, sympathizing a little.

[losthunter]

"That is always difficult." Hunter nods softly. "I sort of dumped a guy... after realizing he didn't want to be seen in public with me."

[william_kent]

"Because you're a guy, or because of how you look?"

[losthunter]

"I didn't ask if he was a closet gay, or if it was because of my appearance. I just walked away."

"I don't want to hide. And that applies to who ever I date."

[william_kent]

"That's fair." Wil is more inclined to hide himself, but it has nothing to do with who he does or doesn't date.

[losthunter]

"And your experience, did you need to talk about it?" Hunter will change the topic, if Wil decides he doesn't want to talk about anything.

[william_kent]

Wil just shrugs a little. "We didn't part on bad terms exactly. We just talked about it and realized we were looking for something different."

[losthunter]

"What are you looking for?" Hunter asks softly.

[william_kent]

"Well... someone who doesn't mind me being me, for one thing."

[losthunter]

"Are we speaking about you needing space and me time? Or your heritage?"

[william_kent]

"Bit of both, really. I do like being with other people and I don't mind being seen with others in public, but it takes a lot out of me sometimes and I have to be alone every now and then. And the vampire thing is a big factor too," Wil admits.

[losthunter]

"I can understand needing some alone time. I know you will find someone who will respect that." Hunter moves across the room to the covered canvas.

"As for the vampire thing, I hope this helps." He removes the cover, to reveal the painting he made for Wil.

Whatever Wil was expecting the painting to look like, this wasn't it. He's a little speechless for a moment. "Hunter... is that... me?"

[losthunter]

"Yes." Hunter admits again. He feels a little nervous since it was a challenge for him not to put too many of his emotions into the work. But he still wanted to be honest in the art too.

This is how he sees Wil. A hero, watching over his city.

Wil is kind of enthralled by it, and he reaches out to the painting, hesitating for a moment before he touches it, tracing the lines. "It reminds me of Mom, when she was Dark Oak."

[losthunter]

"Your mother watched and protected over others?" Hunter stays close, just watching Wil tracing the lines of the painting. It was completed in crayon, and then protected with a glaze so there is no worries of Wil removing any of the work with his touch.

[william_kent]

Wil nods. "Yeah. She looked after Topeka for years."

[losthunter]

"Is it your mom where you got your abilities?"

[william_kent]

"Most of them. She's a vampire, too." Wil finally manages to tear his gaze away from the painting. "Hunter, this is great."
