Hunter has been pretty distracted the last few days, working on his large marble project. Working on marble is lot more messy than any painting he has done before. He has a large drape cloth covering the majority of his art studio, to protect the floor from marble dust.

The carving takes time too. He has made a lot of good progress on the upper-half, that if someone tried hard enough to figure out what he was making, they would see the initial signs of a Chimera being carved out of the stone.

But even with the desire to complete this project (which seems to be consuming him at times), Hunter has not forgotten about Faris. Or that he still wants to try to help Faris to find his door, and the one person who has the ability to do that is Schön.

So, Schön was invited over the apartment, so they can discuss Faris' situation and hopefully find his doorway. Right now, Hunter is dusting, so there is no excess dust in the air before his guest arrives.

"To look for heroes or monsters," Faris clarifies.

And Schön's speculation does make sense, in a way. "Hmm, your assumptions shape your reality?"

"If you think you must go West," Schön observes, "will you take the very fine road leading South, or note a grassless patch between two trees and imagine it a trail?"

"Sometimes those hidden trails are exactly the path you need to take." Hunter notes in understanding.

Faris nods his head. "If you approach someone assuming they are an enemy, your hostility may make them turn to violence as well. If you approach in friendship, someone wary of you may instead be set at ease."

Schön gauges Hunter's interpretation of his metaphor for a moment, before nodding to Faris. "That is so; the undecided often await a sign to choose their course."

"There is always something about wanting to know you are making the right decisions. About wanting that sign that tells you that things are okay."

Hunter smiles softly. "But in the end, you need to take your own path, and be brave enough to follow it all the way to the end."

"Perhaps," Faris says thoughtfully. "But if it turns out that path leads in the wrong direction, is it wrong to turn back and seek another route?"

"In magic, the consequences are often dire for leaving something unfinished, once it is begun," Schön puts in. "Thus, the important of choosing one's path well at the start."

"And I can't shake the feeling that this is still unfinished, and that worries me." Hunter admits softly.

"It is only by impulse that I feel that I should be listening to these dreams. I can't imagine what would happen if I went down the wrong path at the start... by listening to Kendra."

Faris can only bow his head to concede that point. After all, as they've already established, the K'da doesn't have the slightest clue what magic even is, let alone how the rules work. So he must defer to the experts.

"She is unreliable?" he asks Hunter.

"Perhaps," Schön advises Faris, "her advice might more aptly be described as, 'open to interpretation?'" He glances to Hunter for the boy's confirmation or correction.

"Very open to interpretation." Hunter agrees with that statement. "Her riddles are only the tip of the iceberg."

"But there is so much more to discover."

"So perhaps you require new eyes and ears to interpret these riddles differently," Faris muses.

"It might be prudent," Schön agrees.

[losthunter]

"It's too bad I can't just show the dream. Let you both hear what she said. What I saw. What I felt."

Faris turns his head this way and that, considering. "This 'magic' seems able to do a great deal. It cannot do this?"

"The proper magic could," Schön muses. "If you are willing to have it worked upon your person. Such a spell is not easily come by, however."

[losthunter]

"I am open to the possibility. Especially if it would help me get different perspectives on my dream."

"And I would help any way I could."

"Not easily found, or does it require a certain talent?" Faris questions.

"A little of both," Schön admits to Faris, before warning Hunter, "this would need to be business--I could offer you no discounts or special favors out of friendship."

[losthunter]

"I would not expect you to offer any discounts or special favors. It would not be fair to our friendship." Hunter reassures him.

Faris listens, turning his head between the two of them, although he doesn't comment. He's not knowledgeable enough to contribute here, but he is paying attention.

Schön nods thoughtfully, his expression turning inward for a moment as he considers the myriad tools and methods at his fingertips. "I think illusions might be the safest course--they would allow you to set the scene exactly as it appears in your mind, but without the perils of linking ours to yours."

[losthunter]

"That does sounds like good advice."

"What sort of payment would be expected?" Hunter figures this conversation is a good one to have, so Faris can become comfortable with asking for his own needs.

Ah yes, payment. This was also mentioned in regards to trying to find Faris's door, and the K'da listens to learn what might be an appropriate exchange for services. After all, it can't be that different... right?
