losthunter: (introspective into my soul)
It has been over two months since Hunter had found himself unable to leave the Captain's Suite aboard the Enterprise to return to his Nexus apartment. And since he could not get to the Nexus, but could PINpoint to other places in Jim's universe, it was also two months ago since he moved into Jim's apartment in San Francisco.

Two months since he spent a night with his boyfriend. Two months since he had heard from any of his Nexus friends. Two months since he had access to his art studio.

But since Hunter was also able to sign up for courses at the Starfleet Academy, it had been a very busy two months. The claim was that Hunter was from a technophobe community, and still waiting for his paper records to arrive at the academy.

There were times when he enjoyed going to classes again. Socializing with other people. And in Jim's world... no one stared at him, because of his tattoos and piercings. Especially at the Academy, where many other aliens were studying to join Starfleet. He could be among others who were just as unique as him.

He had decided to take a full course. To learn as much as he could. And part of that studying including learning new languages -- alien languages. Hunter remembered how difficult it had been to lose the translation feature of the Nexus -- and wanted to learn to communicate with others, in case something similar happened.

The good days includes ones when he had a course with Faris and Chanath. Or the days when they were studying horticulture, and he got to get his hands into dirt again. Or the days when he could video chat with Jim over the PINpoint.

The bad days included ones when he struggled with technology, or when he couldn't get a hold of Jim for a few days, or when he forgot how different Jim's world was to his own (especially when it came to social norms -- Hunter had to readjust). And there were days when he felt so alone -- with hardly no one to talk to. Only Faris, Chanath, Jim and some of his senior crew understood Hunter's past. His true background.

Every now and then, Starfleet provided brief updates on the exploration mission that the Enterprise was on. And it was a little surreal... to see how those brief updates would cause such an excitement around campus. Between the real updates and the rumor mills -- some of the crew soon became idols. How people would talk about Kirk and the others was so inspiring at times. They were becoming famous.

Every now and then, Hunter could not get Jim out of his head. And he would lay in Jim's bed... his bed... and just watched the Seven Sisters projected into the air from the amulet that Jim gave him at Christmas. And he wondered if Jim was staring up at space from whereever he was... thinking of Hunter.

Hunter just felt more connected to his boyfriend than ever before. His new life... in Starfleet... was just starting out. And someday he would make his own mark. Somehow.

It is another normal day waking up on the USS Enterprise. Hunter spends some time with Jim, before the Captain goes to report in for his duties.

Then he attempts to use his PINpoint to return to his apartment, to shower and change. That is when the normal day becomes unusual -- he is unable to get a portal open back to his Nexus apartment.

He at first figures it just be a glitch, and after checking to make sure Jim's shared bathroom is free -- showers there.

After his shower and a quick change to extra clothes he keeps at Jim's quarters, he tries the PINpoint again. Still nothing.

So he has to remain in Jim's quarters. This is quite strange.

The creative spirit has returned to Hunter. And it is a great feeling to be creating artwork again.

Mostly it is pottery that is speaking to him. His hands working the clay, forming something out of nothing. Letting himself get covered with the wetness of the clay, letting it dry on his skin. Letting the wheel spin under his hands. Letting the clay speak to him.

And when it is not the pottery studio that calls to him, it is the jewelry... making new pieces that are inspired by the Seven Sisters. A series inspired after each woman. The bold and passionate series that are inspired by Caleno. The quiet and timed series inspired by Taygete. The supportive and nurturing series inspired by Maia. The mysterious and seductive series inspired by Merope. And others...

Some jewelry pieces becoming united with pottery pieces. Necklaces. Earrings. Combining both of his passions into awe-inspiring pieces that will be available at his marketplace table.

It is a transition for Hunter. He cut his ties to New York, so he doesn't have the Foundation or the Art Studio there to worry about. And truthfully it is a little freeing. A weight off his shoulders.

And it gives him time to create again. It gives him time to study a little bit about Starfleet. To learn about a history that is ahead of his own time period. And even there is no possibility for Hunter to integrate with Jim's world... he is enjoying learning about Starfleet itself.

He still spends every night with Jim, sleeping in his boyfriend's quarters. And yes the bed might be tight for the two of them, but it is nice to cuddle with Jim every night. The closeness is nice. Being able to spend that time with Jim is very nice.

Hunter feels that he is right where he needs to be. He has his tattoos and piercings back. And the tattoo that he got on his arm -- which he got for real when the magic was taken from him -- has some new aspects to it. A little silver of gold weaved through the roots. A reminder of how he was broken... but repaired.

In the garden of my life — you stand out amongst the flowers.

Hunter felt a lot more collected when he woke up the two days after his panic attack. He had stayed in the tent for a full day, just taking time for himself. And was comforted throughout the time by the presence of the Kneazle, who was constantly at his side. He chuckled a little when he awoke today, running his fingers through Zunar's fur.

He did not spend a lot of time reflecting on what had happened the night before right away. Instead, he packed up his belongings. Purchased a motorcycle bike carrier for Zunar to ride in. And then headed off four hours to Indiana Dunes, the next step on his National Parks tour.

He booked a tent spot at the Sand Creek Campground. And spent the day exploring the beaches, with the Kneazle at his side. It was a perfect time for him to collect his thoughts, now that he was no longer as emotional as before.

He carried the alien flower in his hands as he walked along one of the beaches, his fingers tracing the petals of the gift sent to him by Jim. Zunar was exploring tall grass nearby, trying to track a cricket that he had spotted. The Kneazle was a bundle of energy with all the new smells and sights around him. But also made sure that he stayed within sight of Hunter the whole walk.

It was nearing night time, and the stars were coming up. Luckily, Hunter had reached his campsite and was able to start a fire, before he lost too much daylight.

He leaned back in one of the beach chairs located by the fire pit, watching the flames dance into the night sky. An ember rising up into the darkness, bringing Hunter's eyes to the stars. His thoughts went to Jim.

Immediately, Zunar jumped up and settled in Hunter's lap, as if the Kneazle knew who was on Hunter's mind. And as ridiculous as it sounds, it helped for Hunter to talk to the feline.

"I didn't think it would be this hard. Having this distance between us." Zunar looks up at Hunter with his bright eyes. And Hunter can almost picture sharing his fears with Jim himself, and his beautiful bright blue eyes.

"And it would be selfish of me to expect to be the first person on his mind... especially when he is responsible for the lives of 500 others." Hunter draws his hands through Zunar's fur. "I guess... I just want to know that he does think about me. Sometimes."

"Because I can't stop thinking about him. Or missing him."

"And I know that it was only a few months ago when we officially started calling each other boyfriend... but I just can't picture a future without him in my life."

"I should have followed my heart, instead of listening to my fear. I should have proposed to him." Hunter takes a sharp breath admitting it to himself. To Zunar.

His eyes went back up to the stars. "I can't say those words now. Not... not when I am not myself. Fuck Zunar... I don't know what I am going to do. I don't want to lose him."

Zunar had no answers for Hunter. Just more purring and comfort. Hunter just lets the sounds of nature and the crackling of the fire fill the silence. It was one of those question that just didn't have an answer right now. And Hunter knew he had to just accept that.

Tonight was an important night for Hunter and the Seven Sisters art studio. A new artist was exhibiting their artwork, and there was finally media attention about the studio itself. The art gala had a number of art critics attending. And many people were learning about the Foundation, and the work that the organization did in the community.

Hunter was preparing some notes, to speak to a small scrum with the media. He had not done something like this for a few year. Not since he was dealing with the media and his father's business.

He felt very nervous. Without warning, his phone buzzed an alert. Hunter spared a quick glance at his phone, noticed that the caller ID was from the hospital, and took a few moments to answer it.

"Mr. Kingson?" The almost-too-pleasant voice spoke to him on the other end. Already Hunter had a dreaded feeling in the pit of his stomach. Almost no one addressed him by his former last name.

"Speaking..." He toned his voice to neutral.

"I am sorry to bother you. But you are listed on the emergency call list for your father, Robert Kingson." Hunter felt weak to his stomach. "He is in emergency room."

"What happened?" He whispered. The still-too-bright answer explaining that his father had a heart attack was barely heard by Hunter. The room around him felt claustrophobic. He tuned back in when the nurse asked him if he could come down to the hospital, and speak to the doctor.

"I... yah... I will be there." Hunter hung up the phone. Downstairs, the party of the art gala seemed to taunt him. He couldn't face the media scrum now. He couldn't face anyone right now.

Hunter told one of his Foundation board members to take over the art gala for him, as his Uber cab pulled up to take him to the hospital. In the back seat of the cab, He closed his eyes, making a desperate wish that everything would be okay. A feeling in the pit of his stomach told him that it would not be.

He pulled out his PINpoint and send a message to Jim. I am on my way to the hospital. My dad had a heart attack,

Hunter was still in the common ward at St. Mungos, despite the fact that he no longer felt like he needed to be there. Madame Pomfey had wanted to watch his first few days of re-growing the bone.

So while he was still in the hospital, a group of his friends had decided to descend upon his apartment, to repair the damage caused by Bellatrix. There were signs that a little cleaning had already been completed by Jim in the last few days. But there were signs of the magical battle all around the place.

His kitchen table was gone, the broken pieces already cleaned away. There was an empty space along the wall, where an entertainment center once belonged. The doors and the windows to the balcony still did not have any glass, but at least the broken glass was gone. The burned artwork was also removed. But there is now a large empty spot along the wall, where a large portrait once was displayed.

There was a lot of work ahead of them. But they had a good crowd of people to get it done.

Hunter had concentrated on taking care of himself during the last two days, ever since he had gotten into that fight during his search for Austin. And after feeling healed, and in a better mental state, Hunter felt ready for the next step in his plans.

He needed to talk to his father. And get a message to the FBI agents that were assigned as Secret Service to Rob Kingson's Senate candidacy.

Hunter had sent his father an email to arrange a meeting, and had actually gotten a reply back. So he hoped that was a good sign. All that was left to send an text to Jim, since the Starfleet captain had offered to come with Hunter during this meeting.

Hey handsome. Time to meet my father. Feel ready?
losthunter: (heavy lays the artist woes)
Hunter paced his apartment, his phone in one hand, and a list of phone numbers in his other hand. He just got off the phone with Marcus, one of the six other people who had been given a gift by Kendra. And had learned that Marcus had been attacked by Austin.

Luckily, Marcus was able to get away, without any major side effects.

But Hunter was now worried about the others. And so he was making calls to everyone else who he had talked to, and warned them about Austin so they could stay safe.

And he knew it was time to face Austin again. But even though he felt like it was an emergency, Hunter knew that it would be better to make sure someone else came with him. He also knew exactly who he wanted to have by his side.

Jim. Austin attacked another person. I feel like I need to deal with this. Are you available to come with me?

Tonight, Hunter has his apartment decorated with a pirate theme. He had invited Jim over for a movie-watching marathon, so they could watch the four of five Pirates of the Caribbean movies that Hunter owns.

And in addition to having some pirate decorations hanging around the living room, Hunter is dressed in a pirate costume. He also has some special treats prepared for the movie night, which includes caramel popcorn, salt and vinegar chips, pretzels, peanuts and a few chilled beers.

Everything is ready for Jim to show up, so they can start the movie night.

Hunter has been looking forward to this night for a long time. He has a table booked at his favorite Drag bar. He is looking forward to dressing up, and enjoying a few drinks with two of his favorite people. And he is sure that both Jim and Verity will enjoy a night out on the town.

Right now, Hunter is waiting in his New York apartment, where he is going to meet up with both Jim and Verity. It is the best place to get together, before heading out to the bar. Both Jim and Verity know his PINpoint coordinates. And besides, they don't have to navigate the Drag bar trying to find Hunter.

Tonight, Hunter is wearing a long gold dress. It is designed to show off his arms. And has a long exposed back. The look is completed with an elaborate head piece and deep, rich make-up that flatters his whole look.

He is excited to have Jim and Verity show up and to see their outfits.

[recommending a post order of Hunter/Jim/Verity]

Hunter has received a few phone calls after completing his memorial to Kendra, and getting the opportunity to display the artwork in his dimension. His goal of finding the other people who might have had Kendra affect their lives had been successful. And now he is ready to go speak to them personally.

But first, he didn't want to go alone. And at the same time, he didn't want those he was meeting to know that he didn't trust them. So he called Faris to join him in the adventure. Hopefully he would be able to put more of Kendra's memory to peace by doing this.

Hunter is hosting a few guests at his Nexus apartment tonight. Hunter had been planning this night for awhile, ever since meeting some of the crew members of Jim's ship, getting to know them better, and then telling them about the Nexus. He has been busy planning for the evening, including grocery shopping for some home-made recipes, and finishing some art pieces that will be given as gifts.

Hunter has arranged so that the PINpoint portal is basically connected to his front door. His open concept kitchen and living room will be the first thing that his guests will see, once they arrive through the PINpoint portal. There is a small closet located to the left of the door where they can place any jackets.

The dining room in the living room has been set with all the dining places for his guests. He decided against placecards, since it is more freedom to allow his guests to choose their own seats. On the island in the kitchen is a large plate of vegetarian-friendly appetizers, which features Lavash bread topped with Guacamole and red bell peppers, alongside crescent rolls filled with Jalapeño, mushrooms and asparagus.

The open concept living room immediately flows into Hunter's art studio, where he has a few pieces still being created. There is a large set of French doors that leads out from the living room to an outdoor patio, where there is a rose garden outside. The every-spanning Nexus can be viewed from the patio balcony. Right now, the Nexus is showing the lakeside, where Hunter had first appeared when he had needed support the most.

There are a few closed doors along one wall, one of which that leads to the bathroom, and the other of which leads to Hunter's bedroom.

As Hunter chills some wine, and checks on his main course, he is pretty ready for his guests to arrive. He is feeling excited and happy to be a host.

Many thoughts about his latent magic had given Hunter a lot to think about in the past few days. He really wanted to find someone to help him learn more about his abilities. And maybe, help him to become stronger.

Kendra was gone, but that didn't mean there weren't ways to find her. Or at least find the people that were connected to her.

Hunter had spent a few days looking for the right door in the Nexus that would bring him the answers that he sought. And finally, he felt that he had found what he had been looking for.

But before entering into an unknown place, Hunter knew that he should have a couple of people come with him. He PINpointed a message to Jim first, since it was an adventure that he thought the restless captain would enjoy. Then he PINpointed a message to Faris, who had become his story-keeper in a fashion.

All that left was to wait for his guests, before the adventure could begin.
