Sleepovers with Someone to Cling to ((Verity))

It has been a quiet week for Hunter. One of the advantages of the quiet is the fact that Hunter has had lots of time to work on his artwork. (Perhaps a little bit too much time, in all reality).

So receiving a message from Verity was a good thing, all things considered. Hunter really had wanted to speak to her, about some small things going on in his life. And just have a fun night with a great friend. So they had decided to have a good-ol' fashioned sleepover.

Knowing that Verity was going to stay the night -- and having no qualms with sharing his bed with his good friend -- Hunter had made sure to bring out his best rose-themed sheets for the King-sized bed.

He also raided the closest convenience store to stock up on a few snack goodies for the evening. But of course, for the wine selection of the evening, Hunter went to one of his favourite stores. There he also picked up some cheese selections of the evening.

Almost was ready for Verity to arrive. Hunter's apartment is very open concept. The kitchen, dining room and living room are all visible from the doorway. Of course, his art studio is a little more tucked away -- close to the balcony, and where Hunter grows his roses.

"Now I do." Hunter smiles softly. "It has taken me a long time, but I am very happy with my life."

"Good." She flashes him a smile before she gets back to work on his nails. "You deserve that."

Once the rose has set enough, Ver starts with the top coat. It's shimmery and adds flashes of color to the existing polish. She thinks it's a charming effect.

[losthunter]

Hunter can't help but wiggle a few of the finished fingers, so he can see the shimmer and flashes of color dance in the light.

"This is awesome."

"Mm-hmm. Now, dip them in here." She sets down the bottle and gets a bowl of cold water. "It sets the polish faster. Let them soak for about a minute."

While he's doing that, she'll close up the bottles of polish and put them away.

[losthunter]

He places his hands in the cold water. "I can't express how good it feels to be included in a few projects now. It is like I am finally able to do something productive."

[brave_heart_verity]

"No problem. I'm glad to have someone to help since I can't see art the way other people do. Ready for me to finish with your face?" Oh yes, there's more pampering.

[losthunter]

"Is this your way of getting me quiet again?" Hunter teases her. But he lays down, placing his head closer to her, so she can finish the facial.

"Yes. You've seen through my clever scheme."

No, she's just going to put toner and rosehip oil on him. Healthy skin needs to be moisturized, after all. And yes, there's another mist of rosewater at the end.

[losthunter]

"Hey, it is an excuse to put my head in your lap. I win." He winks.

[brave_heart_verity]

"Oh, is that what this is?" Ver smirks down at him. "I'm starting to think I might be spoiling you too much."

[losthunter]

"I like you spoiling me. If you stopped, I would have to pull out the puppy-dog eyes and big lip."

[brave_heart_verity]

"Darling, I'm from New York. It takes more than that to break me." But notice she hasn't stopped. No need to test that theory.

[losthunter]

"You know we have that in common. Both growing up in New York."

[brave_heart_verity]

"Then you should know what a tough cookie I am." With the oil applied, Ver's fingers settle on Hunter's temples for a little massage. "What part did you grow up in?"

[losthunter]

"Midtown Manhattan."

"We lived pretty close to Central Park. It was there I attended Buckston Academy School."

[brave_heart_verity]

"In the park? Wow. That's ritzy." She smirks down at him. So much teasing. "When's the last time you went back there? To the park, I mean."

[losthunter]

"Not for a long time." Hunter closes his eyes for a moment. "And I had to fight down a drug addict the last time I was there."

[brave_heart_verity]

"Ooh. I can see why you're in no hurry to go back." She wonders what happened, but it doesn't look like he wants to talk about it. So instead, she'll continue the careful massage, spreading her fingers along his brow ridge to work at any headachey tension.

[losthunter]

Hunter is very content under her massaging fingers. "Truth is... except for claiming my trust fund, I really have little reasons to go back to my home dimension at all."

"I feel more welcomed here."

[brave_heart_verity]

"Then stay here." It seems like an obvious answer, to her. "People move all the time. Nothing wrong with that."

Her fingers slow, but don't stop, while she continues admitting something. Not today. Maybe next time.

[losthunter]

"I feel like I already have moved here." Hunter replies. He can sense that she is holding back saying something. So reaches up his hands, so they can settle on her waist. A little hug, even with his head in her lap.

He gets a smile in response to the hug. "Yeah? Good. It's nice to find someplace to belong."

[losthunter]

"It is." Hunter agrees. He feels very content right now.

[brave_heart_verity]

He's a lucky guy, having found so much happiness. Ver will keep massaging his temples for a while longer.

"You ever wonder what your life would be like if you hadn't found the Nexus?"

[losthunter]

"I try not to." Hunter admits softly. "It is unlikely I would have gotten off the streets. Or explored my art. Or gotten comfortable with my markings."
